“Without hesitation, I trust Auntie with the care of my most precious friend- my dog Gracie. This means a great deal to me, after one terrible experience with another local kennel. From that experience on, I have relied exclusively on family to dog-sit during trips away from home. Now Auntie Dog is part of that family. I know that Gracie is treated with love, respect, and consideration for her physical and emotional well-being at all times. Gracie loves her time at Auntie Dog – particularly her managed play dates with Auntie’s own highly trained big boy, “The P”. Auntie also keeps the polish on Gracie’s training while I’m away – Auntie understands how important that is to me, and I see that she maintains my “rules” even when I am away. Unless I cloned myself, and still added extra doses of responsibility and canine experience, I couldn’t get better care for Gracie.”

“I am thrilled about the recent “vacation” our dogs Kobi (GSD) & Kyla (Aussie/Border X) had with Auntie Dog!

For years when we traveled we tried to arrange to have our dogs stay at home with family members, because I was never comfortable boarding our dogs at a standard kennel. As you can imagine, this is not always easy to arrange and most of the time would end up with us just not going away.

Having a 110 lb. German Shepherd (even though he is well trained) – the thought of someone not quite experienced enough handling him made me very nervous and also having larger dogs – they are used to a certain amount of exercise/routine each day. Picturing them in a cement pen all day was just not an option.

When we found out about Auntie Dog – I couldn’t have been happier. Auntie’s is the next best thing to having the dogs in our home! Having their own “room” in the house made them feel as if they were home and your experience as a trainer/handler put me at ease. We felt confident in your experience that you could handle any situation that could arise and that their special needs (Kyla is on daily meds) were being taken care of. They got plenty of outdoor time and individual attention and it was evident when we picked them up and brought them home – it was as if they’d never been away!

It allowed us to travel with peace of mind – what a relief! Thank you Liz. You can be assured whenever we travel, we won’t hesitate to call on Auntie!”

Frequently Asked Boarding Questions

What should I bring when I board my dog?

You may bring anything that you think will make your dog’s stay more comfortable. If he has a favorite toy, blanket or bed with him, his room will feel more like home.

Should I supply food & treats?

Auntie suggests keeping your dog on his regular diet. If you do not wish to provide food, Iams is available at a fee of $4.00 / day. There is no charge for cookies; however, your dog may prefer his own.

What will my dog’s room be like?

All Auntie Dog Guests have a spacious private room, complete with appropriate bedding and toys. The senior room has ramp access to the outdoors. If your dog prefers a crate, crates are available in each room upon request.

Can I call to check on my dog during his stay?

Certainly, you may call, email or text.

Why do I need to schedule a specific check-in & check-out time?

Whenever the dynamic in a kennel changes, dogs react to it. If a new dog arrives or a person stops by, all the dogs feel the need to know what is going on. For that reason, please schedule an appointment for check-in and check-out so that all dogs will be comfortable during the transition.

Why are check-in & check-out times so important?

The dog rooms are washed and sanitized daily. On check-in and check-out days all rooms are given a deep clean. The time between 12:00 (check-out) and 2:00 (check-in) allows Auntie time to prepare the rooms for new boarders. Auntie will accommodate late check-outs or early check-ins whenever possible. Additional fees may apply for check-in before 2:00 and check-out after 12:00 noon.

What will my dog’s schedule be like at Auntie’s?

Auntie’s own dogs are up and out at 5:30 a.m. Breakfast is served beginning at 6:00 a.m. The dogs go out again for exercise after breakfast and depending on the weather, can choose to stay out until 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. After 9:00 a.m., the dogs go out every two to four hours depending on their home schedules and needs. Most dogs are out a minimum of seven times per day. Puppies and seniors may have more outs. Supper is served between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Last outs start at 9:00 p.m. and finish up about 10:00 p.m. Every effort will be made to accommodate your dog’s own schedule.

Can I send someone to visit my dog?

You can, but a visit may upset your dog. He has settled into his new routine at Auntie’s, but he still misses his family. Then, he gets a visit from a friend and thinks, “wow, I am going home.” If your dog is going to have a visitor, please make an appointment at check-in time.

Why can’t I bring my child when I drop off & pick up my dog?

While your dog is great with your children, some Guest dogs do not know children or have issues with children. For that reason, no one under the age of 16 is permitted in the dog areas.

Will my dog play with other dogs?

It is possible that your dog may play with one of Auntie’s dogs. However, interaction is not encouraged on the first visit. The first visit allows Auntie the time to observe your dog’s behavior and attitude toward other dogs. He will see other dogs, but will most likely be kept separate. If your dog is used to playing and/or attends a daycare, let us know.

May I have some references?

Certainly. Client and professional references are available upon request.
